  • Description:
From CLB: In the afternoon of June 3, 2005, some 3,000 workers at the Futai Wool Knitwear Factory in Zengcheng, Guangdong launched a strike over low wages. The workers’ monthly wages were only 700 or 800 yuan per month with a very heavy workload. In May, public security officials ordered workers renting rooms at the factory to pay a sanitation fee of 15 yuan per month. On June 2, the workers asked for a wage increase. The factory promised an answer that same day, but did not respond, leading to the strike.
